Mary, you are miles above all of the rest. My children have both grown so much as musicians…
FAQs
What’s the difference between Suzuki and the RCM Certificate Program?
The Suzuki Method is a great fit for young children (starting at ages 3-5) from musical families, emphasizing ear training and memory. Parent(s) play an active role in practice.
The Royal Conservatory Music Certificate Program is ideal for students starting around 6-8 who thrive with a structured curriculum.

Do you accept transfer students?
I usually prefer to start students at the beginning of their musical journey.
Where do you teach in-home lessons?
I teach in the following communities in North San Diego County:
- Carlsbad, east of El Camino Real including Bressi Ranch, La Costa Oaks, Rancho Carrillo, and Kelly Ranch
- San Elijo Hills
- Elfin Forest
- Select areas of Oceanside and Vista (Tri-Cities) south of the 78
- Southwest San Marcos, west of CSUSM and south of the 78
If you’re not within this perimeter, or if you simply prefer the convenience, I also offer online lessons over Skype and Zoom.
How do we get started?
It begins with a conversation…
In all cases, I like to have a long conversation with the piano parent to see if we have compatible personalities and can make clear communication. If so, and I have availability in my student schedule, I will meet your child to see if I feel I would be the right teacher for him/her/them.
I am happy to make referrals for students that I see as fitting nicely into another teacher’s studio. If you are simply seeking out a musical experience, I recommend music studios which operate with many teachers and instruments available.
I am looking for diamonds in the rough that I can craft into fine pianists, with supportive parents who understand that it takes about 10 years minimum to make a musician. My ideal student already knows that they want to study piano. I feel it is my duty to pass on all that I have learned over the years to other eager minds.
